Summary:

The Community Development Project Officer supports the implementation of the ACHL Community Development Framework across Adelaide, with a focus on Tika Tirka and the Aboriginal Elders Village. The role works alongside residents, young people and Elders to strengthen community capacity, wellbeing, cultural connection and participation, and to develop culturally appropriate activities that reflect local priorities. The position also coordinates service connections, partnerships, funding, budgets, monitoring and reporting to support effective and sustainable community development outcomes.

Responsibilities:

·Implement community development activities and agreed plans across Tika Tirka and the Aboriginal Elders Village in accordance with ACHL’s Community Development Framework, applying its principles of community participation, ownership and self-determination.

·Engage with residents, young people and Elders through culturally safe conversations, welcome processes, regular check-ins, surveys, Yarning Circles and resident meetings to identify strengths, interests, wellbeing goals and priorities, ensuring community ideas and ownership guide project development.

·Co-design, manage and facilitate community development projects and activities that strengthen culture, wellbeing, healthy ageing, social connection and participation, including life skills initiatives at Tika Tirka and intergenerational activities.

·Support resident and Elder voice, leadership and connection to culture, family, community and Country, including resident-led initiatives, cultural learning, community events, gardens, bush tucker activities and an Elders Advisory Group.

·Establish and maintain effective partnerships and service connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, government agencies,



health and aged-care services, community organisations, research bodies and private sector partners, including appropriate referrals where additional support is required.

·Develop and coordinate project resources and funding, including proposals, project briefs, business plans, grant applications, budgets, acquittals and reports in collaboration with community, partners and ACHL colleagues.

·Monitor, evaluate and communicate community development activities and outcomes, maintaining appropriate participation, referral and feedback records, using evidence and community feedback to support continuous improvement and promote understanding of community development approaches across ACHL.

·Work collaboratively across ACHL, including participation in the community development peer support network, sharing knowledge and outcomes with colleagues, and providing appropriate support to the wider team and organisation.

Qualifications:

- Minimum two years’ experience in community development, Aboriginal community services, housing, aged care, youth services, project coordination or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with knowledge of South Australian community networks and culturally protected practice.
- Strong ability to build respectful and trusted relationships with young people, Elders, residents, families, communities and service providers.
- Strong community engagement, administration, project coordination, facilitation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, records, grants, monitoring, evaluation and reporting, with sound Microsoft 365 skills.
- Commitment to quality housing, resident choice, dignity, independence and self-determination.

Current Driver’s Licence and satisfactory Police and Working With Children Checks.
