CLS services more than 800 customers across the hospitality, aged care and health sectors, delivering reliable linen and garment rental solutions supported by large-scale, highly automated processing operations.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Trades Assistant and a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter to join our Gladstone maintenance team.

Trades Assistant

$35 per hour + overtime + super

Working alongside our qualified CQ maintenance team, you will support plant reliability and day-to-day maintenance activities. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude who wants to develop their skills within a large industrial operation.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Assisting fitters with preventative and breakdown maintenance.

- Supporting plant inspections and equipment servicing.





- Performing basic mechanical tasks, including component replacement and adjustments, within your skills and under appropriate supervision.

- Preparing tools, equipment and parts for maintenance work.

- Assisting with fabrication, repairs and plant improvements.

- Keeping the workshop, tools and maintenance areas clean, safe and organised.

About you:

- Mechanical aptitude and practical, hands-on skills.

- Previous experience in a workshop, maintenance or industrial environment.

- A willingness to learn from experienced tradespeople.

- Reliability, initiative and a strong work ethic.

- A commitment to safe work practices.

- A forklift licence or relevant tickets would be advantageous but are not essential.

This role offers an opportunity to build your maintenance skills and potentially progress towards a future trade qualification.

Mechanical Fitter

$50–$55 per hour + overtime + super — negotiable depending on skills and experience

This hands-on position is responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of a busy industrial processing plant. You will play a key role in minimising downtime, supporting production efficiency and ensuring equipment operates safely and effectively.





Your responsibilities will include:

- Performing preventative and reactive maintenance across industrial plant equipment.

- Fault finding, diagnosing and repairing automated mechanical systems.

- Carrying out lathe work, welding and light fabrication.

- Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

- Responding to mechanical breakdowns and supporting the safe return of equipment to production.

- Identifying opportunities to improve plant reliability and performance.

- Promoting and following safe work practices across the site.

Essential skills and experience:

- A trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter.

- Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

- A commitment to workplace safety.

Highly regarded:

- Experience with automated processing equipment.

- Welding and fabrication skills.

- Maintenance planning experience.

You will work well independently and within a team, remain calm under pressure, demonstrate reliability and take pride in your workmanship.

Position Details

Both positions are permanent full time, working primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends and after-hours work as required.

Overtime is available during peak periods and project work, and remuneration will reflect your skills and experience.
