Senior Planner (Contract) | Queensland Government

We are currently seeking experienced Senior Planners to join a high-performing government planning team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to major planning and development outcomes across Queensland.

About the Role

As a Senior Planner, you will play a key role in delivering complex planning projects and providing expert planning advice across a range of strategic and statutory planning functions.

Key responsibilities include:
Assessing development applications on behalf of the Queensland Government through the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA).
Assessing major renewable energy development applications across Queensland.
Supporting local governments in the development and review of planning schemes and planning instruments to ensure alignment with State planning requirements.
Providing high-quality planning advice on complex development and policy matters.
Preparing reports, briefs, recommendations, and stakeholder communications.

About You





To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Strong experience in development assessment, statutory planning, and/or strategic planning .
Proven ability to lead projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound professional judgement.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of reports, submissions, and executive briefs.
Experience working within local government, state government, or a private planning consultancy workplace.
A recognised Planning Degree (essential).
