The Opportunity
As a Progress Payments Officer, you will be responsible for administering and managing a portfolio of construction and development loans, facilitating progress payments and supporting stakeholders through each stage of the drawdown process.
This includes liaising with borrowers, brokers, builders, solicitors, valuers and quantity surveyors to obtain documentation, assess progress payment requests, and ensure all funding conditions are satisfied prior to the release of funds.
You will also be responsible for monitoring construction progress across your allocated portfolio, including following up loans where no recent progress payment activity has occurred, obtaining project status updates, and identifying matters requiring further review or escalation.
You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across Credit, Settlements and Customer Services to ensure service standards, processing timeframes and customer expectations are achieved.
Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, effective stakeholder management, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
This role provides an opportunity to develop specialist knowledge of construction lending and progress payment processes while building the skills and experience required for future progression within the Progress Payments function.
The keyresponsibilitiesinclude:
Manage an allocated portfolio of development and construction loans throughout each stage of construction
Prepare and assess progress payment requests in accordance with La Trobe Financial policies and procedures
Ensure all required documentation and conditions precedent are satisfied prior to the release of funds
Monitor loan activity and construction progress while maintaining accurate records and file notes
Review valuation reports,



quantity surveyor reports and supporting documentation to support progress payment assessments
Assess loan files and prepare recommendations regarding release of funds
Stakeholder Management
Liaise professionally with borrowers, brokers, builders, valuers, quantity surveyors and solicitors throughout the progress payment process
Respond to stakeholder enquiries within agreed service standards
Effectively communicate progress payment requirements, outstanding conditions and funding outcomes
Work collaboratively with internal divisions including Credit, Settlements and Customer Services
Quality, Compliance & Risk
Adhere to all legislative, regulatory and company requirements
Ensure progress payment activities are completed accurately and within required timeframes
Maintain strong attention to detail and identify any inconsistencies, risks or issues requiring further investigation
Escalate complex matters, exceptions or compliance concerns appropriately
Construction Monitoring & NOA Management
Monitor and manage allocated construction and development loans where no recent progress payment activity has occurred
Conduct follow-up activities with borrowers, builders and other stakeholders to obtain updates on construction progress and expected project milestones
Maintain accurate records and file notes relating to construction status updates and stakeholder communications
Identify and escalation concerning the project delays, inactivity, funding requirements or potential risks to management as appropriate
Prepare and provide updates on construction progress and NOA portfolios and identified risks as required
Assist with identifying loans requiring further review, valuation updates or stakeholder engagement
Contribute positively to team objectives and service standards
Support team members during peak periods and assist with shared workloads
Participate in training, system enhancements and process improvement initiatives
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, customer outcomes and team performance

About you:
Experience in banking, lending, financial services or customer service environment
Exposure to construction lending, development lending or progress payments is desirable
Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work across multiple systems and technology platforms
Robust customer service and stakeholder management skills
Ability to learn recent processes, systems and regulatory requirements
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team
