BIM Coordinator | Major Defence Project | Canberra | $130k–$150k + Super
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced BIM Coordinator to join a leading mechanical services contractor working on a major-scale defence project in Canberra.
This is a Canberra-based position working within a major construction environment, where you will play a key role in coordinating BIM models, resolving clashes and ensuring design and construction teams remain aligned throughout the project.
Australian Citizenship is mandatory for this position, with candidates required to be eligible to obtain the appropriate security clearance.
The Role
As BIM Coordinator, you will work closely with project managers, construction managers, engineers, consultants and subcontractors to coordinate BIM models and identify potential design and constructability issues before they reach site.
You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from design coordination through to construction, with a strong focus on Revit, Navisworks, clash detection and constructability.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate BIM models across consultants, contractors and project stakeholders
Review drawings and 3D models for accuracy and constructability
Undertake clash detection and visual walkthroughs using Navisworks Manage
Audit and review models using Autodesk Revit
Participate in BIM coordination meetings with project teams
Assist with early design reviews and constructability analysis
Manage and update BIM project documentation
Undertake 3D model quantity extraction and verification
Assist with 4D scheduling and simulation where required
Work closely with Project Managers and Construction Managers to resolve coordination issues




Assist with external drafting and modelling requirements
Produce conceptual and fabrication drawings where required
Ensure BIM coordination supports project programme, budget and construction requirements
About You
We're looking for an experienced BIM professional with:
5+ years' experience in BIM coordination, modelling or drafting
Relevant drafting/BIM qualification or equivalent experience
Solid experience with Autodesk Revit
Strong experience with Navisworks Manage
Experience with clash detection and BIM coordination
Experience working within a construction or building services environment
Strong understanding of 3D modelling and constructability
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
The ability to work effectively with project and construction teams
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Experience within mechanical, HVAC or MEP building services will be highly regarded.
