The Devices Mechanical Engineering team develops cutting-edge products from concept to production to improve health outcomes for millions of people around the world. Mechanical engineers work within a project team to research, design, develop and verify products that can be manufactured in high volume. This role is in the Pressure Systems Mechanical sub-team, which designs components and subsystems that deliver pressurised air to treat sleep apnoea and other respiratory conditions.

Mechanical engineers work within a project team to research, design, develop and verify products that can be manufactured in high volume. This role is in the Pressure Systems Mechanical sub-team, which designs components and subsystems that deliver pressurised air to treat sleep apnoea and other respiratory conditions.

As our successful candidate, you will be ready to:

Take responsibility for developing components, considering how design decisions impact product performance, manufacturability, and the end-user experience.
n
Understand and apply design requirements relating to patients and customers, usability and accessibility, therapy performance, environmental factors, cost, quality, and design for manufacture and assembly.
n
Work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams, collaborating with industrial designers and engineers from mechanical, electronics, systems, software, and manufacturing disciplines.
n
Build and evaluate prototypes using a range of techniques,



including additive manufacturing and hands‐on fabrication methods.
n
Design and conduct testing, including verification and validation activities, to demonstrate that designs meet requirements under expected use and operating conditions.
n
Solve design problems using scientific analysis from first principles, simulation tools and empirical methods.
n
Create and maintain accurate documentation of designs and testing.
n
Communicate progress, technical challenges, and risks proactively with project team members and stakeholders.
n
Participate in risk management activities, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating design risks through processes such as DFMEA.
n
Work within Resmed's Quality Management System and applicable regulatory requirements.
n
Actively develop your technical skills, apply Resmed engineering best practices, and share new learning that enhances team capability and improves ways of working.

You will have:
n
n
A curious, innovative and analytical mind
n
Excellent communication skills and be a team player
n
A tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent
n
Experience with 3D CAD modelling – we use Creo, but experience in any CAD package is acceptable
n
n
Strong candidates will have at least one of the following:
n
n
Engineering experience in a product development role, preferably within medical devices or another highly regulated industry
n
Particular interest or experience in fluid dynamics, acoustics, pneumatic systems, pumps/blowers or electro‐mechanical systems
n
Experience with ANSYS CFD
n
Experience designing injection‐moulded components
