Canning Construction is looking for a qualified carpenter to join our growing residential construction for an immediate start.

We are a family-run building company based in Far North Queensland, working across new homes, secondary dwellings, renovations, extensions and custom residential projects throughout Cairns, the Tablelands and surrounding areas.
n
This is a full-time position with a 12-month probation period. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well, works safely, and wants to be part of a long-term team.

About the role
n
As a qualified carpenter, you will be involved in a variety of residential building work, including framing, fix-out, cladding, decks, patios, renovation work, extensions, and general carpentry tasks.
n
You will work across different residential sites and will be expected to follow plans, site instructions, safety requirements and company procedures.
n
Key responsibilities
n
n
Carry out residential carpentry work to a high standard
n
Read and work from plans, drawings and site instructions
n
Complete framing, fix-out, cladding, decks, patios and general carpentry tasks
n
Assist with new homes, secondary dwellings, renovations and extensions
n
Work safely and follow site WHS requirements
n
Keep work areas clean, organised and safe
n
Communicate site issues, defects or delays early
n
Work respectfully with clients, trades, suppliers and team members
n
Protect finished work, client property, tools and materials




n
Complete timesheets accurately for job costing and payroll
n
Follow company procedures and reasonable lawful directions
n

What we are looking for

Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience as a trade-qualified carpenter in residential construction
n
Current White Card
n
Reliable transport
n
Own basic carpentry tools
n
Strong attention to detail
n
Reliable, punctual and organised
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
n
Willingness to take feedback and be accountable
n
Professional attitude around clients and other trades
n
Cyclone rated experience
n
Ability to work independently at a high standard
n

$45–$55 per hour, depending on experience
n

Flexible start and finish times may be considered where practical with site requirements

Standard site hours are generally 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, including a 30-minute unpaid meal break. Approved flexible start and finish times may be considered where they work with site needs, supervision, safety and project timelines.
