DGH is looking for an experienced Estimator to join our growing team in Emerald.
n
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Estimator who wants to be part of a locally based team and play a key role in delivering accurate, competitive estimates for site and fabrication SMP (Structural, Mechanical and Piping) projects across Emerald and the wider Central Queensland region.
n
Working closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors and other key stakeholders, you will help ensure projects are accurately scoped, costed and supported from initial tender through to delivery.

About the Role
n
Based in Emerald, this role will suit an Estimator with experience across SMP, fabrication, construction or a related industry who understands the demands of projects in a regional environment.
n
You will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate estimates, reviewing project requirements, drawings and specifications, and identifying the materials, labour, equipment and other costs required to deliver each project.
n
You will play an important role in supporting DGH's continued growth across Emerald and Central Queensland, working across a diverse range of projects and scopes.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for site and fabrication SMP work scopes
n
Review project drawings, specifications and supporting documentation
n
Develop material, labour, equipment and project cost estimates
n
Liaise with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, clients and other stakeholders to gather project information
n
Support tendering, quoting and bidding activities
n
Identify potential cost savings and opportunities for improved project delivery
n
Assist with developing competitive and commercially sound tenders
n
Ensure estimates are accurate, comprehensive and completed within required timeframes
n
Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail across all estimating activities
n




Support projects from initial tender through to delivery where required
n
About You
n
We are looking for someone who understands the SMP, fabrication and construction environment and is comfortable working in a quick-paced regional business.
n
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
n
Previous experience as an Estimator within SMP, fabrication, construction or a related industry
n
Experience preparing estimates, tenders and project costings
n
A trade or tertiary qualification in engineering would be desirable
n
Experience with estimating software and tools
n
Strong understanding of materials, labour, equipment and project costs
n
Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
n
Experience with CAD programs
n
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
n
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
n
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Project
n
The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
n
Strong time management and organisational skills
n
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
