n
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
n
n
Relevant degree/ diploma in Mining/ Mechanical Engineering or a relevant trade test (Red Seal) (Essential).
n
Minimum 8 years' experience in quarrying/ mining operations, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
n
Blasting Certificate of Competency (Advantageous).
n
A proven track record as a 2.6.1 legal appointee under the MHSA.
n
Medically fit in terms of the MHSA.
n
Valid Driver's License.
n
Strong leadership and people management skills.
n
Solid knowledge and practical understanding of quarrying processes, limestone and lime processing, plant equipment, and applicable safety standards.
n
Proven leadership and team management skills.
n
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
n
Proficient in production planning and cost control.
n
Ability to work under pressure and make data-driven decisions.
n
Financial acumen and experience managing budgets and KPIs.
n

Duties And Responsibilities (not Limited To)
n
n
Fulfil the 2.6.1 Legal Appointment under the MHSA.




n
Oversee daily quarry operations including drilling, blasting, crushing, and haulage.
n
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
n
Develop and implement mine plans and production schedules.
n
Manage budgets, assets, resource allocation and cost control.
n
Lead and develop site teams, fostering a culture of safety and performance.
n
Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., DMPR) and ensure legal compliance and participate in DMPR inspections on site
n
Participate in ASPASA and internal health and safety audits
n
Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and implement corrective actions.
n
Monitor and report on production metrics and site performance.
n
Maximise opportunities through innovation to increase Afrimat competitiveness in the market
n
Drive Afrimat's continuous improvement plan
n
n
The candidates must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Company standards for medical fitness.
