About the Role
n
Gulkula Mining is looking for a reliable and self-motivated Camp Cook to join our small remote mining camp, located approximately 30 kilometres from Nhulunbuy in northeast Arnhem Land.
n
This is an initial, 3-month fixed-term contract position operating on 7 days on, 7 days off roster, with flights provided from Cairns or Darwin to Gove (Nhulunbuy).
n
This is primarily a cooking role, preparing meals for a small crew of approximately ***** people. You will work independently for much of your roster, so we are looking for someone who enjoys having ownership of their kitchen and can organise their day confidently.
n
There are also some light camp cleaning and laundry duties as required.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Prepare morning tea and lunch for approximately 12 employees
n
Prepare dinner for approximately ***** people each evening
n
Plan and prepare varied, nutritious and well-presented meals
n
Manage food storage, stock rotation and kitchen supplies
n
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
n
Complete light laundry and camp cleaning duties as required
n
Drive a company 4WD utility into Nhulunbuy when required to collect groceries and fresh supplies
n
Work independently and manage your own daily routine around required meal times
n

About You
n




We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and comfortable working independently in a remote workplace.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
Previous experience preparing meals for groups
n
Confidence planning and preparing a variety of meals
n
Good understanding of food handling, storage and hygiene requirements
n
Strong organisation and time-management skills
n
Ability to work independently and take ownership of the kitchen
n
Current Australian driver's licence and confidence driving a 4WD vehicle
n
Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screening
n
n
Previous remote camp or mining experience is desirable but not essential.

Roster, Pay and Accommodation

$50 per hour flat rate
n
Paid for 12 hours per full day on site
n
7 days on / 7 days off
n
Flights provided between Cairns or Darwin and Gove
n
Private donga-style accommodation with ensuite
n
Meals provided while on site
n
Company vehicle available for required work-related travel
n
Alcohol-free mine site and camp
