This is a hands-on, operational contract role focussed on day-to-day buying. You'll manage RFQs through to purchase orders, keep suppliers on track and make sure the right parts arrive on time to support production. The contract runs for 6-7 weeks from Monday 6 October, with a strong likelihood of extension. The role is fully onsite in south Canberra.
Key responsibilities
Issue RFQs, obtain and compare supplier quotes, and recommend the best option
Raise and manage purchase orders in the ERP/MRP system
Expedite open orders and manage supplier lead times to meet production schedules
Work from engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) to source the right parts
Analyse pricing and flag cost or supply risks early
Onboard new suppliers and keep supplier records accurate
Liaise closely with Engineering, Production and Stores to resolve supply issues
About you
Proven experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Officer or Procurement Specialist




Background in manufacturing, engineering, defence, aerospace or technical products
Confident reading engineering drawings and BOMs
Robust ERP/MRP skills - Epicor highly regarded (SAP, Syspro, Pronto or similar also welcome)
Organised, persistent and comfortable chasing suppliers in a busy environment
Available to start on 6 October and work onsite in south Canberra
Security clearance (Baseline or higher) is a bonus, not essential
