A well-established professional services firm is seeking an experienced
Tax Advisory Manager or Senior Manager
to join its growing Melbourne practice. This prospect offers exposure to a broad range of corporate and international tax matters, working alongside a highly regarded team that advises some of Australia's most successful privately owned businesses, multinational companies and listed organisations.
This is an opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys solving complex problems, providing strategic advice, leading client engagements, and partnering closely with clients to deliver practical commercial outcomes.

Who This Role Will Suit
This opportunity is best suited to a tax professional who has developed a well-rounded public practice background across both
compliance and advisory
. While strong compliance foundations are important, the successful candidate will have significant exposure to complex advisory engagements and be comfortable providing strategic tax advice to clients.
The firm is seeking someone who can operate as a genuine trusted advisor,
rather than a purely compliance-focused tax professional. Ideally, your experience will reflect a balanced mix of compliance and advisory work, enabling you to confidently guide clients through both technical and commercial tax matters.
In addition, you will bring proven people leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, conducting regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and supporting the ongoing development of team members. Exposure to a range of up-to-date tax and accounting software platforms will also be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality corporate and international tax advice to a diversified client base.
Manage complex advisory projects and client engagements.
Build strong relationships with key client stakeholders.
Collaborate with colleagues across service lines to deliver integrated solutions.
Mentor and develop junior team members.
Conduct performance discussions, provide coaching, and support team development initiatives.
Assist with technical research, tax planning strategies and business development initiatives.
Stay abreast of legislative and regulatory developments impacting clients.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will likely possess:
CA, CTA, Master of Tax or similar qualifications.
At least 5 years' experience within corporate tax advisory, international tax or a specialist tax consulting environment.
Robust technical knowledge across Australian corporate taxation and international tax principles.
Demonstrated experience across both tax compliance and tax advisory engagements within a public practice environment.
A well-balanced skillset with significant exposure to advisory work, including tax planning,
restructures, transactions, and strategic client advice.
Experience managing client relationships and delivering complex advisory outcomes.
Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, performance reviews, career development discussions, and team management responsibilities.
Strong exposure to contemporary tax and accounting software platforms, systems, and reporting tools.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
A commercial approach to problem solving and client service.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team.
What You'll Get In Return
Exposure to complex, high-value advisory work.
A diverse portfolio of clients ranging from growing private groups to large multinational organisations.
Direct access to senior leadership and decision-makers.
Transparent career progression opportunities.
Ongoing professional development and technical training.
Adaptable working arrangements.
A collaborative, supportive and down-to-earth culture.
The opportunity to work on both domestic and international tax matters with global reach.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This firm has built a strong reputation for delivering commercially focused advice while maintaining a genuinely supportive and people-first culture. The team prides itself on combining technical excellence with practical outcomes, creating an environment where talented professionals can continue to grow their careers while making a meaningful impact for clients.
This role will particularly appeal to tax professionals who enjoy the advisory side of taxation, thrive in client-facing environments, and are looking to further develop their leadership capabilities while working with sophisticated clients on complex tax matters.
If you're looking for a role that offers challenging advisory work, strong career development and the opportunity to work with sophisticated clients, we'd love to hear from you.
