Southwell Engineering is looking for an experienced Laser Cutting & Brake Press Operator to join our manufacturing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and reliable tradesperson with experience in laser cutting, brake press operation and sheet-metal fabrication to become part of a growing company specialising in lifts, hoists and lifting equipment.
n
The Role
n
Working within our manufacturing workshop, you will be responsible for producing high-quality components and assemblies used in our lift and hoist systems.
n
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
n
n
Operating and setting up laser cutting machinery.
n
Operating and setting up brake presses.
n
Cutting, folding and forming sheet metal to engineering specifications.
n
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
n
Selecting appropriate tooling and machine settings.
n
Measuring and inspecting finished components for accuracy.
n
Working with a range of steel and sheet-metal products.
n
Assisting with general fabrication and workshop duties when required.
n
Maintaining machinery, tooling and a clean, organised work area.
n




Working safely and following company procedures and quality standards.
n

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

n
Previous experience operating laser cutting and brake press machinery.
n
The ability to confidently read engineering drawings.
n
Positive understanding of measurements, tolerances and fabrication processes.
n
Strong attention to detail.
n
A practical, hands‐on approach to problem solving.
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
n
Good communication skills and a strong work ethic.
n
A commitment to workplace safety and producing quality work.
n
Experience in lifts, hoists, structural steel, engineering or general manufacturing will be highly regarded.
