About the role

We're looking for a Legal
Assistant/Paralegal
to join our team in Wangaratta. This is a full time role for someone who wants more than an administrative job — we're looking for a genuine long-term team member, someone keen to build their skills over time and eventually take on carriage of their own matters under supervision.
n
You'll start with a broad mix of front-of-house, administrative and paralegal support, and as your experience and confidence grow, so will your responsibilities.
n
What you'll be doing
n
n
Greeting and welcoming clients, visitors and colleagues in a professional and friendly manner
n
Handling phone calls, emails and correspondence, and directing enquiries to the right team member
n
Arranging client appointments and managing the lawyers' calendars
n
Preparing, drafting and formatting legal documents and correspondence
n
Assisting lawyers with matter preparation, including basic legal research and drafting under supervision
n
Maintaining electronic and physical filing systems, including opening and organising client files
n
Liaising with clients, courts and other parties on the progress of matters
n
Providing general administrative support, including photocopying, scanning and document management
n
Assisting with the coordination of client meetings and firm events
n
Ensuring reception and meeting areas are well-presented
n
Progressively taking on greater responsibility for your own files and matters as your experience develops
n
n
What we're looking for
n
n
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and friendly manner
n
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure
n
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
n
Previous experience in a legal or professional services environment is preferred but not essential — we're prepared to train the right candidate
n
A keen eye for detail and commitment to accuracy
n
A genuine interest in the legal industry and a desire to build a long‐term career, including a willingness to undertake further study (e.g. Cert IV or Diploma of Legal Services) to progress toward paralegal work
n
n
What we offer
n
n
Genuine career progression, with a clear pathway from legal assistant duties toward paralegal work and eventual carriage of your own matters
n
Hands‐on mentoring and exposure across family law, property, commercial, and wills and estates work
n
A calm, supportive and values‐driven team environment
n
Remuneration commensurate with experience
n
n
If you're looking for a role where you can grow, learn and eventually make it your own, we'd love to hear from you. All applications will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
