Senior Integration Developer | Microservices & Event-Driven Architecture
I'm recruiting a
Senior Integration Developer
to join a major business application transformation program within the Federal Government. This is a genuinely interesting engineering environment.
The program is establishing its first enterprise
microservices and event-driven architecture foundations
, while introducing AI-enabled engineering practices across the software delivery lifecycle.
You'll work across modern integration, APIs, cloud-native services and messaging technologies, designing secure, scalable and reusable solutions that connect applications, platforms and external services.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, deploy and support API-led and event-driven integration solutions
Build secure and scalable integrations between applications, platforms and external services
Develop solutions using cloud-native services, messaging technologies and event-driven patterns
Work closely with architects, technical leads, developers and business stakeholders
Translate business requirements into high-quality technical and integration solutions
Apply modern engineering practices across DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing and observability
Support API-first design, microservices architecture and reusable integration patterns




Contribute to platform engineering standards and continuous improvementMentor team members and support knowledge sharing across the engineering function
Skills
You'll ideally bring:
5+ years' experience
designing and developing API-led and event-driven integration solutions
Robust experience with
microservices architecture
REST APIs, JSON/XML and OpenAPI/Swagger
API gateways and common service integration patterns
Messaging and event-driven technologies such as
Kafka, RabbitMQ, Service Bus or Event Grid
Containerisation and orchestration experience with
Docker and Kubernetes
Development experience using technologies such as
.NET, Java, Node.js or Python
Strong understanding of secure integration and identity, including
OAuth2, OpenID Connect and JWT
Experience with managed identities and secure service-to-service communication
CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps and observability
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with architects, developers and business stakeholders
Experience working within
Federal Government or another regulated enterprise environment
will be highly regarded.
The role can be based in
Canberra or Sydney
, with Canberra the primary project location. Some flexibility may be available depending on operational requirements.
You must be
eligible to obtain a Baseline security clearance
