We are seeking a motivated and reliable
Junior Civil Engineer
to join our growing construction team, specialising in
retaining wall design and construction
.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Civil Engineering graduate or junior engineer looking to develop their skills across
geotechnical engineering, retaining wall design and construction
, while gaining practical site experience on projects across Sydney.
About the Role
Working closely with our Project Managers, Site Supervisors and construction team, you will assist with the design, planning, coordination and delivery of retaining wall projects from commencement through to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the
design and engineering of retaining walls
Assisting with geotechnical assessments and engineering calculations
Using
PLAXIS
for geotechnical modelling and analysis
Assisting with stability analysis and retaining wall design
Reviewing engineering drawings, plans and project specifications
Assisting with site set-out, levels, measurements and inspections
Monitoring construction activities and progress on site
Assisting with design changes and technical queries during construction
Preparing and maintaining engineering and construction documentation
Assisting with ITPs, QA/QC documentation and project records
Assisting with quantities, material take-offs and progress claims
Checking construction works against approved drawings and specifications
Liaising with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers
Identifying engineering and construction issues and assisting with practical solutions
Assisting with technical documentation,



reports and project correspondence
Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and compliance
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
A
Civil Engineering degree
or relevant qualification
0–3 years' experience in civil or structural construction/engineering
A strong interest in
retaining wall design and geotechnical engineering
PLAXIS experience
and an understanding of geotechnical modelling
Knowledge of retaining wall design principles and stability analysis
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
Good communication and organisational skills
A practical understanding of construction methodologies
Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team
Current Australian driver's licence
White Card
Desirable Experience
Experience or knowledge in the following will be highly regarded:
PLAXIS 2D / PLAXIS 3D
Geotechnical engineering
Retaining wall design
Soil and foundation behaviour
Slope and global stability analysis
Reinforced concrete retaining walls
Cantilever and gravity retaining walls
Temporary and permanent retaining structures
Australian Standards and relevant engineering specifications
Civil construction and site engineering
