At Rentco, we take pride in delivering reliable fleet solutions and specialised equipment to our customers. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Technician – Heavy Vehicles to join our team, working across both our workshop and field service operations.
n
This is a hands‐on role for someone who enjoys diagnosing faults, solving problems, and maintaining heavy vehicle and specialised fleet equipment to the highest standard. You'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of assets including trucks, trailers, and Revive Super Warrior Vacuum/Jetting Combination Units, while also responding to breakdowns and completing on‐site servicing when required.

Key Responsibilities
n
Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, repairs and diagnostics on heavy vehicles, trailers and specialised fleet equipment in accordance with manufacturer and company standards.
n
Respond to on‐site servicing requirements and emergency breakdowns using a fully equipped field service vehicle to minimise downtime and return assets to service safely and efficiently.
n
Conduct fault finding across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, identifying and implementing effective corrective actions.
n
Complete specialised trailer repairs and component replacements, including king pin replacements and welding repairs where qualified and competent.
n
Accurately complete service inspections, maintenance records, checklists and compliance documentation to support fleet reliability and regulatory requirements.
n
Support workshop operations by assisting with maintenance activities,



freight and equipment movements, and mentoring apprentices through knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
n
Maintain accountability for company tools, service vehicles, parts and equipment, including reporting damage, assisting with inventory control and ensuring assets are professionally presented.
n
Uphold the highest standards of safety, housekeeping, compliance and professional conduct while building positive relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.

Experience & Qualifications
n
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
n
Trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle, Diesel, Mechanical or related field.
n
Relevant licences - confined space entry, working at heights and operating, testing and working with high pressure water jetting and vacuum equipment per AS ******.
n
Experience maintaining heavy vehicles, trailers and fleet equipment.
n
Demonstrated experience in hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems specific to Heavy vehicles and specialised equipment.
n
Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and service documentation.
n
Experience in welding and practical repair skills highly regarded.
n
Exposure to vacuum, jetting or specialised equipment will be highly regarded.
