Booka is seeking experienced Technical Content Writers / ICT Documentation Specialists to support a significant technology environment within the Australian Federal Government.
We are looking for candidates who are skilled at working with technical specialists, business stakeholders and project teams to translate complex information into clear, accurate and fit-for-purpose technical, operational and user documentation.
This prospect will suit an experienced technical writer who understands the ICT delivery lifecycle and is comfortable producing documentation across requirements, solution design, implementation, testing, operations and end-user support.
The Role
Working collaboratively with business areas, design teams, project resources and BAU teams, you will develop and maintain a broad range of ICT documentation.

Business Requirements Specifications
High Level Designs
Detailed Design documentation
Test Plans
Implementation Plans
Test Results
Operations Manuals
Standard Operating Procedures
Lessons Learned Reports

You will work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather information, understand complex subject matter and transform it into documentation that is structured, accessible and appropriate for its intended audience.
About You
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
Strong experience in technical writing, ICT documentation or content development within complex technology environments.
Experience developing documentation across the ICT project and solution delivery lifecycle.
The ability to interpret technical information and communicate it clearly to different audiences.
Experience working with business analysts, architects, engineers, developers, testers, project teams and operational stakeholders.
Strong research, information gathering and stakeholder engagement skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with organisational templates, style guides and documentation standards.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, consistent and high-quality documentation.
Ability to manage multiple documentation activities and priorities within delivery timeframes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work effectively within a small collaborative team as well as across a broader enterprise environment.
Experience developing technical, instructional or user-focused content will be highly regarded, particularly where you have simplified complex technology concepts for non-technical audiences.
Knowledge of accessibility standards, user experience principles and digital content practices will also be advantageous.
Government ExperiencePrevious experience within Australian Government, Defence, national security, law enforcement or similarly secure and regulated environments would be highly regarded but is not essential where candidates can demonstrate strong transferable ICT documentation experience.
Candidates should be comfortable working within structured governance, security and assurance environments.
Security Requirements
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance.
Candidates already holding NV1 or higher security clearances are encouraged to apply.
Location & Working Arrangements
The primary working environment is Canberra; however, candidates may also be considered from:
Canberra / ACT
Sydney / NSW
Melbourne / VIC
Hybrid and flexible working arrangements may be available subject to client approval and operational requirements.
Contract
Initial 12-month engagement
Full-time engagement of up to 7.5 hours per day
