The Marble & Granite Fitters Cairns is an established Cairns business specialising in the manufacture and installation of high-quality stone and porcelain benchtops. We're looking for Trades Assistants and experienced or qualified Stonemasons to join our factory and installation teams in Cairns. We have opportunities for people at different experience levels. If you're experienced in stone fabrication, installation or both, we're looking for skilled tradespeople who can bring strong workmanship, attention to detail and practical experience to our team. If you have experience in construction, manufacturing or another hands-on trade and want to develop your skills in the stone industry, we'd also like to hear from you. Stone industry experience is highly regarded but isn't essential for Trades Assistant applicants. Training will be provided to the right person with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Key responsibilities
Fabricating stone and porcelain benchtops in our Cairns workshop
Cutting, polishing, finishing and preparing components for installation
Assisting with or carrying out onsite benchtop installations
Working with natural stone, engineered products and porcelain/sintered materials
Using hand tools, power tools and specialised stone fabrication equipment
Loading, unloading and safely handling finished components and materials
Reading job information, plans and measurements
Maintaining tools, equipment and clean work areas
Working closely with our workshop, installation and office teams
Following our workplace health, safety and quality procedures
About you
Reliable, safety-conscious and take pride in your work
Good practical and problem-solving ability
Solid teamwork and communication skills




For Stonemasons
Experience in stone benchtop fabrication and/or installation
Experience in cutting, polishing and finishing stone or porcelain
Experience with joins, cut-outs, mitres and detailed finishing
Ability to read plans, drawings and measurements
Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team
Previous experience in a labouring, manufacturing, construction or trades environment
Willingness to learn specialist stone fabrication and installation skills
Capable of safely performing the physical requirements of the role, including heavy material handling
Hold a valid driver's licence, with a manual licence preferred
Have reliable transport to work
Have appropriate Australian work rights for the position
