About This Position
n
An established Australian organisation with a head office in Japan is seeking an experienced Japanese-English bilingual professional to take ownership of its internal controls and governance framework.
n
Reporting directly to the Managing Director in Australia, you will bring greater structure, consistency and accountability to contracts, policies, approvals and corporate records — while helping ensure that group requirements work as intended in day-to-day Australian operations.
n
This is a senior, hands-on individual-contributor position with no direct reports, suited to someone who can draw on established knowledge, assess priorities independently and begin adding value from an early stage.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Translate Japanese head-office policies and requirements into practical, prioritised actions across Finance, HR, IT and Operations
n
Lead the ongoing strengthening of J-SOX and internal controls — identifying gaps, agreeing remediation with the Managing Director and department heads, and following through to implementation
n
Improve Delegation of Authority, approval pathways, Board governance records and corporate document registers
n
Establish transparent ownership and oversight of contracts, commercial terms, renewal dates and key corporate documents
n
Coordinate sustainability reporting information and supporting evidence with relevant teams and advisers
n
n
About You
n
n
Professional-level Japanese and English, with a practical understanding of Japanese corporate structures, decision-making and reporting expectations
n
Relevant background in internal control, governance, risk, compliance, internal audit, J-SOX/SOX or corporate planning
n
Proven ability to bring structure to contracts, policies and approval records
n
Confidence engaging with senior management and department heads across cultures
n
Unrestricted working rights in Australia
n
n
What This Opportunity Offers
n
n
A trusted role reporting directly to the Managing Director
n
Real ownership of governance and internal control improvement — not a review-only mandate
n
Regular engagement with senior stakeholders in Australia and Japan
n
A rare permanent part-time opportunity where your experience and judgement are valued
