As Assistant Venue Manager at The Carpenter's Ruin and The Walrus, you'll work alongside the Venue Manager to run day-to-day operations, lead floor shifts, and support our team. This role combines hands-on leadership and essential venue admin with the creative freedom to bring fresh ideas to life across our drinks, food offerings, and events.

Key Responsibilities
n
Shift Leadership & Guest Service: Lead floor service, run pre-shift briefings, handle guest issues, and ensure strict adherence to RSA rules and venue procedures. Take full ownership of shifts in the Venue Manager's absence.
n
Operations & Administration: Assist with rosters, stock ordering, checking deliveries and invoices, completing opening/closing checklists, and maintaining accurate venue records.
n
Creative Concepts & Offering: Collaborate with management to pitch, trial, and execute creative ideas across our drinks program, food offerings, and venue events. Bring innovative approaches to seasonal produce, presentation,



and overall guest engagement.

Showcasing the Experience: Engage with guests to highlight daily specials, detail food and beverage offerings, and ensure the team is confident delivering recent event or menu concepts.

Train and support new team members, foster a positive and respectful workplace, and lead by example in communication and presentation.

What We're Looking For

Proven experience in shift management or senior floor roles within a quality-driven venue.
n

Consistent weekend availability.
n
n
Valid Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification.
n
A creative mindset with ideas for enhancing drinks, food offerings, and overall venue atmosphere or events.
n
Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
n
High attention to detail with operational procedures and day-to-day admin.
n
