Queensland Treasury Fixed term temporary - Flexible full-time $104,722 - $113,618 per annum Generous superannuation Location: Brisbane and Townsville The position is in the Crime Statistics (CS) team of the Crime Statistics and Research (CSR) unit within Queensland Government Statistician's Office.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN THE ROLE Contribute to the production and publication of crime and justice statistics.
Undertake statistical analysis and provide advice on crime and justice statistics.
Ensure outputs satisfy QGSO standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies.
Assist with preparing complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, statistical commentary, presentations, documents, speeches and correspondence for senior officers.
Provide technical advice, information and support to clients and senior officers on complex issues and requests for crime and justice data.
Promote statistical standards and review statistical data in consultation with relevant government agencies.




Assist in the operation of statistical processing systems underpinned by knowledge of criminal justice data and best practice data management principles, including advising on data quality and availability.
Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represent QGSO at meetings involving diverse government agencies.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE Experience processing and analysing data – including a high level of competency in Excel and statistical software application "R".
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good organisational skills and ability to navigate and manage competing work priorities in complex and, at times, quick paced environments.
The ability to apply effective judgement, communication and understanding of perspectives in developing solutions and working with others.
Forecasting model experience would be desirable.
