Lake Wangary is a small country reception to year 6 school, with a site-based preschool 45kms west of Port Lincoln. Currently, we have 85 students in our school and 10 preschool children. Our vision is to inspire creativity and curiosity by offering engaging opportunities for hands-on exploration and inquiry-based learning. We foster an environment where honesty and open-mindedness are valued and where students build resilience through challenge and collaboration. In your application, please respond to the following questions:
1. Can you talk to us about your experience implementing a systematic synthetic phonics approach and the impact on students early reading and spelling development? How has this impacted on other areas in the English curriculum?

Can you talk to us about your approach to teaching mathematics? How would you support students to develop robust conceptual understandings, while also building their mathematical capabilities and dispositions?
3. Can you talk to us about how you build and nurture positive relationships with staff, students and families in a small school community? Please share an example that demonstrates your approach and the difference these relationships made.
4. Can you talk to us about your knowledge and experience of Learning Expeditions as an approach to designing authentic, contextualised learning? What have you learned from this experience, and what impact did you see on student learning and engagement?
