This Provisional Fellow position in the Base of Skull Service (BOSS) is based at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, and is available for the 2027 Clinical Year from 01 February 2027 up to 31 January 2028.

The Ear Nose and Throat Department (ENT) Department at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, is a high-volume tertiary specialist unit that cares for over 1000 children every year. Embedded within the ENT department is the Base of Skull Service (BOSS) which coordinates the multidisciplinary management and care of children and adolescents with conditions affecting the base of the skull region (such a tumours, complicated infections, trauma and other complex congenital and acquired pathology).

This is a unique position that primarily provides candidates an opportunity to develop advanced surgical skills in the base of skull region to prepare for a consultant role in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The role incorporates operative exposure, multidisciplinary clinics and meetings and follow-up clinics. The fellow will play a key role in patient care as well as leadership, research, quality improvement and education within the department. The candidate will work closely with many other clinical teams in inpatient and outpatient care both clinically and strategically. Secondarily, the candidate will be expected to contribute to general ENT services including participation in on-call duties, waiting list reduction,



supervisory and teaching responsibilities as required by the Department Head and subspecialty team.

Selection Criteria: * MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.

- Registered with The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and/or equivalent overseas pathway.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in ENT and/or base of skull surgery; tertiary paediatric experience desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical setting, utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Excellent communication skills with leadership and teamwork skills and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
- Demonstrated good time management and problem-solving skills to manage competing priorities and liaise effectively with other health professionals.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education, research and quality improvement, including demonstrated commitment for clinical and academic teaching of Medical Students, Junior medical staff and other clinical staff in theatres, clinics and at formal teaching sessions.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education, research and quality improvement.
