We are seeking a skilled and experienced Light Vehicle (LV) Mechanic to join our workshop team based in Geraldton, Western Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and servicing of light vehicles, with a strong focus on Toyota Hiluxes and Land Cruisers. Four-wheel-drive (4WD) mechanic experience is highly regarded and strongly preferred for this role.

This is a hands-on workshop position suited to a qualified tradesperson who takes pride in delivering quality mechanical work, communicates well within a team environment, and is committed to maintaining high standards of vehicle safety and performance.

Roles and Responsibilities

The LV Mechanic will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

- Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle components, applying both practical knowledge and computer-assisted diagnostic tools.

- Dismantle, remove, inspect, repair, and replace engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other mechanical and electrical components as required.

- Reassemble engines and mechanical parts following repair, ensuring all components are restored to proper working order in accordance with manufacturer specifications and service manuals.

- Test and adjust repaired mechanical parts and systems to verify correct operation and ensure proper performance standards are met.

- Perform scheduled maintenance services, including but not limited to oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and engine tune-ups, to support vehicle performance, reliability, and compliance with applicable emissions and pollution standards.

- Diagnose and test vehicle components and systems using computer-based and computer-assisted diagnostic equipment,



accurately interpreting results to determine required repairs or adjustments.

- Inspect vehicles to assess roadworthiness and either issue roadworthiness certificates or identify the work required to achieve roadworthiness, where applicable.

- Respond to vehicle breakdown service calls in a timely and professional manner, where applicable, carrying out field repairs and assessments as needed.

- Work primarily on Toyota Hiluxes and Land Cruisers, applying a thorough understanding of these vehicle models to deliver accurate diagnosis and efficient repair outcomes.

- Apply four-wheel-drive (4WD) mechanic knowledge and experience when servicing and repairing 4WD systems, including differentials, transfer cases, drivelines, suspension systems, and associated components; 4WD experience is strongly preferred.

- Complete job cards, workshop forms, and service records accurately and in a timely manner to ensure proper documentation of all work performed.

- Order vehicle parts and consumables as required, ensuring the correct parts are sourced and available to minimise vehicle downtime.

- Communicate effectively and professionally with the workshop team, supervisors, and other staff members to coordinate workflow, share information, and support a productive workshop setting.

- Maintain a practical, hands-on approach to all workshop activities, demonstrating reliability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic at all times.

- Adhere to workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements, maintaining a safe and organised working environment at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

- Demonstrated experience as a Light Vehicle (LV) Mechanic, with a solid background in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of light vehicles.

- Relevant trade qualification.
