Salary: AUD $130,000-$150,000 plus 10% annual bonus opportunity

Lead Defence Sustainment Strategy

World Fuel Government Solutions is seeking a Senior Integrated Product Support (IPS) Engineer to lead maintenance, supportability, reliability, and lifecycle engineering activities across complex Defence systems and equipment.

This role is responsible for defining how Defence capability will be maintained, supported, repaired, and sustained throughout its operational lifecycle.

You will develop maintenance concepts, supportability strategies, Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) outputs, sparing requirements, sustainment plans, and lifecycle support deliverables that help ensure critical Defence systems remain protected, reliable, and operational for years to come.

This Is Not a Traditional Systems Engineering Role

This is not a requirements management, architecture, MBSE, or verification-focused systems engineering position.

Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily in systems engineering, requirements management, MBSE, DOORS, verification, validation, software, or architecture without Integrated Product Support, sustainment, reliability, or maintenance engineering experience are unlikely to be a fit.

What You'll Be Doing
Lead Sustainment & Supportability Activities

- Lead Integrated Product Support (IPS) activities across Defence programs.

- Define maintenance concepts, sustainment strategies, and supportability frameworks.

- Create lifecycle support solutions for complex Defence systems.

- Influence how Defence capability is maintained throughout its service life.





Conduct Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA)

- Perform Maintenance Task Analysis activities.

- Review OEM manuals, technical data packages, and system documentation.

- Define maintenance requirements, servicing frequencies, and support concepts.

- Establish maintenance strategies aligned to operational usage profiles.

Define Sparing & Support Requirements

- Determine sparing requirements and provisioning strategies.

- Define supportability requirements and sustainment solutions.

- Develop lifecycle support plans.

- Contribute to long-term asset support planning.

Lead Defence IPS Deliverables

- Develop IPS-related Defence deliverables.

- Support ASDEFCON-aligned programs and activities.

- Develop technical publications, maintenance instructions, and support documentation.

- Ensure deliverables meet customer and contractual requirements.

Support Reliability & Lifecycle Planning

- Lead investigations into equipment failures and degradation concerns.

- Support ongoing reliability and maintainability activities.

- Recommend improvements to maintenance and support strategies.

- Mentor and develop engineers within the sustainment team.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications

- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

- Australian Citizen able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.

- 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.

- Strong understanding of maintenance and support of complex mechanical systems.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
