Help deliver a positive healthcare experience for children and their families. As an Administration Officer (Referrals Paediatrics), you will coordinate outpatient referrals, manage clinic appointments and waitlists, and maintain accurate patient records. Working within a busy and supportive team, you will provide high-quality administrative and customer service support that contributes to timely access to paediatric services and the delivery of secure, effective care.

About us:

The Scheduled Care Unit (SCU) is a centralised service responsible for the coordination and management of outpatient referrals and appointments across Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. Working closely with clinicians, general practitioners and patients, the SCU supports timely access to specialist services and contributes to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across Far North Queensland.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will....

- Assist all staff in the work area and develop a highly compatible and supportive working team, whilst demonstrating effective communication skills, empathy, and understanding, in a patient focused environment.
- Provide general administrative support including ordering of stationery, answering phone enquiries, photocopying,



filing and faxing to enable health professionals and medical staff to meet their objectives and deliver services to patients and colleagues.
- Complete maintaince of electronic patient records in Smart Referrals, HBCIS, ieMR, Powerchart and ESM including the creation of new and the updating of existing registrations, as well as the collection of private & Ineligible patient details and creating Interpreter bookings.
- Act as primary point of contact for the clinic area when required including answering routine reception questions and phone calls whilst providing accurate information to clients, visitors and staff accessing the clinic area.
