“You’re a wizard, Harry.”

Well, in this case drafting is basically wizardry.

You take a bunch of measurements, regulations, client changes and the occasional “surely we can just move that wall”…

Wave your Revit wand around for a bit…

And somehow turn all of that into a house that complies, stands up and can actually be built.

To the rest of us, it may as well be magic.

Which probably explains why genuinely good Draftspersons are about as easy to find as a wizard outside of Hogwarts.

Slight problem.

We need one.

That’s where you come in.

You’ll be joining an established residential building business that’s been around for 11 years and has built a reputation for doing things properly.

More importantly, it’s stable.

The business creates a significant portion of its own work through its own land subdivisions, so it isn’t completely at the mercy of land shortages or waiting around for someone else to create its pipeline.

That stability probably explains why people tend to stick around.

There are employees who’ve been here for 6, 7, 10 and even 11 years.

They’re now looking for a Draftsperson to take ownership of the drafting function.

And when we say ownership, we mean it.

You’ll receive plan changes through the Office Manager and turn them into accurate, detailed drawings in Revit.

Those drawings will head across to estimating for pricing, back to sales for the client conversation and, quite possibly, back to you for another round of changes.

You’ll work across floorplans, facades, measurements, materials and specifications while dealing with salespeople, estimators and site supervisors along the way.

But this isn’t just about knowing which buttons to press in Revit.

You need to understand how a house actually goes together.

Because drawing something that looks lovely on a screen is fairly pointless if the supervisor gets to site and wonders how on earth they’re supposed to build it.





You’ll need to apply your construction knowledge, understand the relevant planning and building requirements and make sure what leaves your desk is both compliant and buildable.

That includes understanding frameworks such as NSW Complying Development and Victoria’s ResCode.

Attention to detail matters.

So does speed.

But nobody expects you to arrive on Monday morning and start smashing out drawings like you’ve worked there for five years.

Initially, accuracy wins.

Learn the homes. Learn the processes. Learn how the business operates.
The speed will come.

What they don’t want is someone who spots a mistake and quietly hopes nobody else does.

They want someone who owns their work.

Someone self-sufficient enough to recognise a problem, work through it and find a solution.

Someone who can manage their own workload without requiring a committee meeting every time something unexpected lands on their desk.

You’ll need previous residential drafting experience, solid computer skills, Revit experience and a Diploma in Building Design.

AutoCAD experience is useful, but Revit is where the work happens here.

Salary will depend on what level of experience you bring.

It’s a full time, office-based role working a 38-hour week, generally 8:30am–5:00pm.

There’s flexibility around start and finish times where family commitments require it.

The team all works together from the office and they are wanting this person to add a new vibe to the team.
