The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Part time Financial Accountant to join our team and provide accurate and reliable financial accounting support across our organisation 4 days a week.

This role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a small, supportive environment and become a key contributor to our ongoing financial processes.

The successful candidate will initially work closely with our current Director of Finance and Bookkeeper to gain a thorough understanding of our systems, processes, reporting requirements, and aged care-specific finance activities. Through a handover period, you will develop confidence and familiarity with our operations before progressing into the ongoing standalone Financial Accountant role.

This position would suit someone who enjoys working independently, values accuracy, and is looking for a role where their finance expertise can make a meaningful contribution.

What you’ll do

You will support the organisation by:

- Maintaining accurate financial records, including general ledger accounts, journals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

- Reviewing and processing financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.

- Completing regular bank, balance sheet,



and general ledger reconciliations.

- Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

- Supporting resident billing processes, subsidy reconciliations, and aged care funding-related financial activities.

- Supporting payroll-related financial processes and maintaining accurate payroll records. This role is responsible for processing the end-to-end payroll for the facility.

- Completing the Mirus timesheet management project and supporting the successful implementation and ongoing use of the system.

- Providing ongoing maintenance support for Mirus and liaising with the Mirus Support Team regarding system queries and improvements.

- Preparing monthly financial reports, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

- Supporting month-end and year-end financial close processes.

- Assisting with the preparation of QFR, ACFR, and ACNC reporting requirements.

- Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.

- Assisting with audit preparation by providing financial documentation and responding to information requests.

- Maintaining accurate records to support compliance with aged care funding requirements and organisational policies.

- Working collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer, Bookkeeper, care teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.

About you

You are a detail-focused finance skilled who enjoys maintaining accurate financial information and providing dependable accounting support.

You will ideally have:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce,



or a related discipline.

- You will ideally hold (or be working towards) a CPA or CA qualification, with demonstrated experience in financial accounting and reporting.

- Previous experience as a Financial Accountant, Accountant, Assistant Accountant, or similar finance role.

- Experience within aged care, healthcare, community services, or not-for-profit environments is highly desirable.

- Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.

- Experience supporting month-end processes and preparing financial reports.

- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billing processes.

- Confidence working with financial systems and Microsoft Excel.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
