Service Electrical Technician Core Talent has an exciting opportunity for a Service Electrical Technician to join a growing fire protection business, playing a key role in the inspection, testing, maintenance, and servicing of critical fire protection systems across commercial, industrial, and residential environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct scheduled inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm and detection systems in accordance with AS1851.

- Test and troubleshoot smoke and heat detectors, manual call points, control panels, and associated equipment.

- Inspect and functionally test Emergency Warning & Intercommunication Systems (EWIS), including PA systems, evacuation tones, speakers, and Warden Intercommunication Phones (WIP).

- Inspect and test exit and emergency lighting systems in accordance with AS2293 requirements.

- Conduct inspections of passive fire protection measures, including fire doors, penetrations, fire-rated walls, ceilings, and fire seals.

- Diagnose faults, undertake minor repairs, and identify defects or non-compliance requiring further rectification.

- Accurately document inspections, testing results, defects, corrective actions, and recommendations within service reports.

- Communicate effectively with clients regarding system status, compliance requirements, recommendations, and follow-up works.





- Respond to urgent service requirements and provide on-site support for emergency repairs where required.

- Maintain tools, equipment, and testing devices and stay up to date with relevant industry standards, technologies, and best practices.

Required Skills
- Relevant trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Fire Protection Inspection & Testing or equivalent.

- Experience with fire alarm systems, EWIS, emergency lighting, and passive fire protection inspections.

- Strong understanding of AS1851 and other relevant Australian fire safety standards.

- Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

- Strong attention to detail with valuable documentation and report-writing capabilities.

- Clear and professional communication skills when dealing with clients and internal teams.

- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.

- Valid Australian driver’s licence.

Nice to Have Skills
- FPAS accreditation or relevant fire protection industry accreditation.

- Experience with a range of fire alarm control panel manufacturers and programming.

- Previous experience working across commercial and industrial environments.

- Broader knowledge of Australian fire safety standards and compliance requirements.

Preferred Education and Experience
- Relevant fire protection, electrical, or technical trade qualification.

- Previous experience in inspection, testing, servicing, or maintenance of fire protection systems.

- Experience working in environments requiring strict compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
