The Department of the House of Representatives is seeking applications from those interested in directly supporting the work of the House of Representatives and members of Parliament at Parliament House in Canberra.

About the department

The Department of the House of Representatives provides services to support the productive conduct of the House of Representatives, its committees and certain joint committees, and provides a range of services and facilities for Members of Parliament in Parliament House. The department also promotes the work of the House in the community and supports the conduct of the Parliament’s international and regional relations.

About the role

The Print and Publishing Assistant reports to the Print Manager and supports the delivery of print, publishing and digital content services for the House of Representatives, parliamentary committees and the Parliament. Working under limited supervision, the role assists with print production, document publishing, website content maintenance, quality assurance and client service activities. The position reports to the Print Manager and Graphic Designer and contributes to the effective delivery of print and publishing services across the department.

Duties

Printing Support

1. Produce, finish and distribute printed materials to support the work of the House of Representatives, parliamentary committees and Parliament.

2. Maintain print room equipment and consumables and comply with relevant work health and safety requirements.





Publishing Support

1. Undertake desktop publishing activities, including document formatting, proofreading and quality assurance.

2. Assist with the publication and maintenance of content on departmental websites, intranet platforms and other digital channels.

Section Support

1. Maintain print and publishing records, workflow information and service delivery data.

2. Contribute to section priorities by providing general administrative and operational support and assisting with emerging tasks as required.

3. Undertake other duties, suitable at a PSL3 level, as directed.

Position Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must:

Be an Australian citizen;

Undertake a National Police check;

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance. Maintenance of a security clearance at this level is essential to the role, and failure to maintain a security clearance at this level will result in termination of employment.
