Community & Stakeholder Engagement Specialist

- Location: Parramatta, NSW (hybrid, with site work across Western Sydney)
- Contract: 6 months, with possible extension
- Start: ASAP
- Rate: $750 - $850 per day + super
- Sector: NSW Government, Transport and Infrastructure

We are recruiting a Community & Stakeholder Engagement Specialist to join a major NSW Government transport agency on an initial 6-month contract. You'll sit within a project delivery team responsible for major infrastructure projects across Sydney's west, including the northwest and southwest growth areas.

Key responsibilities

- Draft community notifications and project updates, and respond to community enquiries and correspondence
- Plan and deliver community consultation activities, including door knocking and community events as required
- Engage and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including councils, utility providers and contractors
- Identify and manage community and stakeholder issues, and advise project managers and senior leaders on risks and opportunities
- Draft ministerial messaging and briefing content in collaboration with the government relations team
- Attend project sites across Western Sydney as needed
- Keep accurate records of stakeholder interactions and engagement activities

About you





You're an experienced engagement professional who can work autonomously and set your own priorities in a fast-changing project environment. You're comfortable in the office, at a community event or out on site.

Ideally, you will bring:

- Solid community consultation and issues management experience
- A background in major project delivery. Transport is preferred, but other infrastructure sectors will be considered
- NSW Government or public-sector experience. Private-sector candidates from major projects are also encouraged to apply
- Excellent written communication skills, with experience drafting notifications, correspondence and briefing material
- Confidence engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, PR or marketing, or equivalent professional experience
- An interest in technical and infrastructure matters (technical expertise is not required)
- A current driver's licence (preferred, as organisational vehicles are provided for site visits)

Working arrangements

- Hybrid, with 50% in the office (5 days per fortnight)
- Base office in Parramatta, with a secondary office in the Sydney CBD
- At least one day per week in Parramatta
- Site attendance across Western Sydney as project needs require
- The office and site split will change as new projects move into delivery, so flexibility is essential
