Details: Are you passionate about performance improvement, quality assurance, governance, and using data to drive better outcomes? The ACT Ambulance Service (ACTAS) is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director, Performance and Governance to lead the development and continuous improvement of performance and governance frameworks within the ACTAS Control Centre. This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in supporting the delivery of high-quality emergency communications services to the ACT community.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Assistant Director, Performance and Governance provides strategic and operational leadership to strengthen and sustain the performance of the ACTAS Control Centre's civilian workforce. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining performance and governance systems that establish clear expectations, enable continuous improvement, and support operational excellence. Through analysis of performance data and workforce trends, you will provide evidence-based advice to senior leaders that informs decision-making and enhances service delivery.

Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will collaborate closely with operational leaders, Control Centre staff, ESA business areas, and ACT Government stakeholders to drive a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement. The role includes responsibility for leading and developing one direct report.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
- Qualifications in training, leadership, emergency management, or related fields will be highly regarded.
- Applicants may be required to undertake a medical assessment.
- To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.
- If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) will be terminated.

Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
