About the Role

Our client is seeking a competent Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their team in Queenstown . This essential role involves the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a diverse fleet of heavy-duty machinery used in construction, mining, or agricultural operations. You will be responsible for diagnosing complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and performing timely repairs to ensure minimal equipment downtime. The ideal candidate is experienced, possesses strong diagnostic skills, and is dedicated to maintaining the safety and operational efficiency of heavy machinery.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, trucks, and specialized machinery.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain problems.
- Conduct engine overhauls, brake repairs, suspension work, and other major component repairs.
- Read and interpret service manuals , schematics, and diagnostic computer readouts.




- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance performed and parts used.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and environmental regulations.

Requirements

- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar role.
- Robust knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems common in heavy machinery.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software specific to heavy equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical service bulletins and repair manuals.
- Relevant trade certification or extensive experience is required.
- Physical ability to work on large equipment in various weather conditions.
