We are recruiting on behalf of a growing national consultancy providing project management, commercial, project controls, procurement and delivery advisory services across Australia.

The business supports clients delivering complex civil, infrastructure, energy and major-project programmes. Its clients include contractors, developers, government bodies, asset owners and project-delivery teams.

Due to continued growth, the business is seeking an experienced, commercially focused recruitment professional to establish and grow its specialist recruitment offering across civil, infrastructure and energy.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can hit the ground running. You will bring a strong industry network, a proven background in contract recruitment and the confidence to develop client relationships, generate recent opportunities and deliver high-quality recruitment outcomes from day one.

The role

As the Principal Recruitment Consultant, you will lead recruitment activity across civil construction, infrastructure, energy and major-project markets.

You will recruit contract and permanent professionals across disciplines including:

Project and programme management

Commercial management and quantity surveying

Contracts administration, claims and cost management

Project controls, planning and scheduling

Engineering, design and technical delivery

Procurement and supply chain

Construction management and site leadership

HSE, quality, risk and assurance

Estimating, cost planning and advisory roles

This is a genuine 360-degree recruitment role. You will combine business development, account management, candidate attraction, recruitment delivery, contractor mobilisation and ongoing contractor care.

Key responsibilities

Develop and grow a specialist recruitment desk across civil, infrastructure, energy and major-project sectors

Build trusted relationships with contractors, consultancies, asset owners, developers, government organisations and project-delivery teams

Identify, pursue and convert new recruitment, contracting and workforce-solution opportunities

Recruit high-calibre contractors and permanent professionals across project management, commercial, engineering and project-controls disciplines

Manage the full recruitment lifecycle,



from client briefing and candidate sourcing through to interviews, offers, mobilisation and placement

Build and maintain active candidate networks within relevant project-delivery disciplines

Manage contractor onboarding, compliance, timesheets, extensions, redeployment and ongoing contractor care

Negotiate client terms, contractor rates, margins and assignment extensions

Work closely with the wider advisory and project-delivery team to identify recruitment opportunities within existing client relationships

Maintain accurate CRM records, candidate pipelines, sales activity and market intelligence

Represent the business through networking, referrals, industry events and targeted market engagement

About you

This opportunity will suit an established recruitment professional who understands the pace, complexity and commercial realities of civil, infrastructure and energy projects.

You will ideally bring:

15+ years’ recruitment experience , ideally gained within an agency, project-services consultancy, engineering consultancy or specialist infrastructure recruitment business

Strong experience recruiting into civil construction, infrastructure, energy, utilities, renewables, transport, water, resources or major-project environments

Demonstrated experience in contract recruitment, including contractor compliance, rate negotiation, margin management, timesheets, extensions and redeployment

Established relationships with candidates and clients across project management, commercial, engineering and project-controls disciplines

Experience recruiting roles such as Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Contract Administrators, Project Controls Managers, Planners, Engineers, Construction Managers, Procurement specialists and HSE professionals

A proven record of winning new business, developing client accounts and growing a specialist recruitment desk

Strong commercial judgement, negotiation skills and a delivery-focused approach

The confidence to work autonomously while contributing positively within a collaborative and growing business

KPIs are likely to include:

Revenue, gross profit and placement performance

New-client acquisition and development of strategic accounts

Growth in contractor placements and contractor book value

Delivery quality, candidate experience and client satisfaction

Contractor retention, assignment extensions and redeployment

CRM discipline, compliance and operational standards

Contribution to the broader growth and reputation of the recruitment business

The aim is to reward both commercial performance and the long-term value created through client relationships, contractor networks and a sustainable specialist recruitment desk.
