About the role

AfterDark Technology is seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer / Project Engineer to join our growing team in Bowen Hills, QLD.

This is a senior technical role suited to an engineer who enjoys delivering infrastructure and cloud projects across up-to-date Microsoft environments. Working within our MSP team, you will lead and contribute to project delivery, client onboarding, cloud migrations, security uplift initiatives, and infrastructure improvements for a diverse client base across Australia.

This role is heavily project-focused, with approximately 85% project delivery and 15% escalations/support work.

We are looking for someone who can work autonomously, communicate confidently with clients, and take ownership of technical outcomes from planning through to implementation.

What you'll be doing

- Deliver Microsoft 365, Azure, and infrastructure projects for SMB and mid-market clients

- Lead and assist with tenant-to-tenant migrations, Exchange Online migrations, and Microsoft 365 deployments

- Deploy and manage Microsoft Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, and endpoint management solutions

- Implement and support Azure services and hybrid infrastructure environments

- Configure and maintain Windows Server environments and core networking infrastructure

- Deliver network refreshes and firewall deployments using Fortinet technologies

- Assist with cybersecurity uplift initiatives, backup solutions, and best-practice security standards

- Participate in new client onboarding and technical discovery processes

- Provide Level 3 technical escalation support where required

- Create and maintain technical documentation and implementation standards

- Collaborate with internal teams to continuously improve operational processes and service delivery

What we're looking for

- 5+ years’ experience in a Level 3,



Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or MSP Project Engineer role

- Experience working within an MSP environment

- Demonstrated experience delivering IT infrastructure and cloud projects end-to-end

- Strong technical knowledge across:

- Microsoft 365

- Azure

- Intune

- Entra ID / Azure AD

- Exchange Online

- SharePoint Online

- Teams Voice

- Windows Server

- Fortinet networking and firewall solutions

- Experience with RMM and PSA platforms such as N-central and Autotask

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders

- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects within timeframes

- Relevant Microsoft certifications highly regarded
