Assistant Store Business Manager - Part Time David Jones Southland

This is a permanent part time position working 28 hours per week—ideal for someone who wants genuine leadership responsibility without full-time hours.

Founded in Australia in 2009, M.J. Bale creates garments of integrity using quality natural fibres and expert craftsmanship. We’re a certified B Corp and Official Tailor to the Australian Test cricket team, the Wallabies and the Socceroos.

About the role

Working closely with the Store Business Manager, you’ll help lead the team, drive sales and maintain a strong M.J. Bale presence within David Jones.

You’ll be hands‑on and visible on the floor, supporting customers and stepping up to lead the concession when required.

Your day will include:

- Supporting the Store Business Manager with daily leadership and operations
- Leading the team to achieve individual and concession sales targets
- Coaching team members and setting a strong example on the floor




- Building relationships with new and returning customers
- Providing expert advice on fit, styling and product
- Supporting stock management, visual merchandising and presentation
- Building effective relationships with David Jones stakeholders
- Taking responsibility for the concession when the Store Business Manager is away

About you

You’ll bring:

- Experience as an Assistant Manager, 2IC or senior retail team member
- A strong sales record and confidence working towards targets
- The ability to coach, motivate and support a team
- A genuine interest in menswear, tailoring and personal style
- Strong organisation, communication and attention to detail
- A proactive approach and willingness to get involved
- Flexibility to work your 28 hours across a retail roster

Experience in premium fashion, menswear, luxury or department-store retail will be highly regarded.
