About The Role
n
At the RMH, we love to grow and develop our leaders.

Due to recent internal promotions, Surgical Services has 2 Nurse Unit Manager positions available, and we are seeking the next leaders for 3 South West (3SW) and 4 South (4S).
n
3SW is a 20-bed colorectal and hepatobiliary & Upper GI surgical ward, while 4S is a 24-bed urology, vascular, breast and endocrine surgical ward.
n
Both wards are supported by a strong CNC group, including stomal therapy across both wards and breast care nurses on 4S, excellent ANUMs and a shared clinical nurse education team.
n

As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide visible and accessible leadership to nursing and multidisciplinary teams, with a robust focus on patient-centred care, safety, quality and operational excellence.

Key Accountabilities
n
n
- Lead, coach and develop the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality care.
n
- Manage daily ward operations, including staffing, rostering and workload allocation.
n
- Support patient flow and progression of care through effective bed management.
n
- Drive quality improvement, patient safety and risk management initiatives.
n
- Lead workforce performance, development, recruitment and staff engagement.
n
- Manage the ward budget, resources and cost centre in line with organisational priorities.
n
- Build strong partnerships with medical, allied health and key stakeholders.
n
- Lead change and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, outcomes and patient experience.
n

About You
n
You are a capable and motivated nurse leader who brings:
n
n
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
n
- Proven leadership experience, including a minimum of 3 years' ANUM experience in an acute ward; NUM experience is preferred
n
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain high-performing teams
n
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
n
- Experience supporting staff development, coaching and performance management
n
- Strong clinical governance and patient safety knowledge
n
- Financial and resource management capability
n
- Ability to lead change, think strategically and solve complex problems
n
n
Desirable
n
n
- Postgraduate qualifications in nursing, leadership or management, or currently working towards one
n
- Experience in quality improvement, research or innovation activities
n
n
