Job Description

Master Group Masonry The successful candidate will perform skilled bricklaying and blocklaying work across residential and commercial construction projects. The position requires accuracy, sound technical knowledge and the ability to work safely and productively as part of a project team.

Overtime and applicable allowances in accordance with workplace arrangements and relevant industrial requirements. Task & responsibilities Read and interpret construction plans, drawings and specifications. Determine required materials, dimensions and installation methods.

Set out masonry work and establish horizontal and vertical reference points. Prepare mortar and other bonding materials to the required consistency. Lay bricks, concrete blocks, masonry units and other building materials in mortar.

Construct walls, partitions, arches, piers, façades, retaining walls and other masonry structures. Lay face bricks and blocks in specified patterns, designs and finishes. Cut, shape and prepare bricks and blocks using hand and power tools.

Measure and align masonry using spirit levels, plumb lines and other levelling equipment. Install damp-proof courses, flashings, lintels, wall ties and insulation where required. Rake, tool and finish mortar joints to achieve the required appearance and durability.

Repair, restore and maintain existing brickwork, blockwork and related structures.



Construct brick-slip façades and feature walls when required. Erect and dismantle restricted-height scaffolding in accordance with applicable requirements.

Estimate material requirements and minimise waste. Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and quality standards. Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and secure work area.

Coordinate with supervisors, builders, subcontractors and other trades to meet project schedules. Assist and provide practical guidance to apprentices and less-experienced team members where required.

Qualification & experience

The successful applicant should have: Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying, or an equivalent relevant trade qualification; at least two years of relevant bricklaying or blocklaying experience; demonstrated experience working on residential or commercial construction projects; ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications; sound knowledge of bricklaying, blocklaying, mortar preparation and masonry-finishing techniques; ability to use bricklaying tools and relevant power equipment safely; strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship; good communication and teamwork skills; physical fitness and ability to perform manual construction work; current White Card or capacity to obtain one before commencing employment; and About Company Master Group Masonry is an established Sydney masonry contractor operating since 2012. We undertake residential and commercial projects throughout metropolitan Sydney, providing professional bricklaying, blocklaying, brick-slip façade, feature-wall and retaining-wall services. Due to continuing project requirements, we are seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Bricklayer to join our team.
