About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Remote Category Manager specializing in Indirect Spend to join their global procurement organization. This fully remote position, serving operations related to Queenstown, Eastern Cape , will focus on developing and executing sourcing strategies for a diverse range of non-direct goods and services, such as IT, marketing, facilities, and professional services. You will leverage your expertise to drive significant cost savings, mitigate risks, and enhance supplier performance through sophisticated negotiation and relationship management, all within a virtual work environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and own the category strategy for assigned indirect spend areas, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Lead complex sourcing events, including RFPs, RFQs, and contract negotiations for major indirect categories.
- Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers, holding them accountable for performance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct in-depth market analysis to understand industry trends, cost drivers, and potential risks.




- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across various departments to understand their needs and ensure effective category management.
- Monitor contract compliance and identify opportunities for spend consolidation and optimization.

Requirements

- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in category management or strategic sourcing, with a focus on indirect spend.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing category strategies that deliver significant cost savings and value.
- Expertise in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and risk mitigation.
Robust analytical skills and proficiency in procurement analytics tools.
- Excellent remote collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to work independently.
