About the Role

Our client seeks a forward-thinking Remote Mine Planner to contribute to the long-term strategic development of their mining assets. This hybrid role allows for significant remote work, focusing on creating detailed mine plans that optimize resource extraction, ensure operational efficiency, and maximize economic returns. You will utilize advanced modeling software and geological data to design sustainable and cost-effective mining strategies. Your role will involve close collaboration with on-site teams and management, balancing remote planning expertise with essential site visits to ensure the successful execution of strategic mining initiatives in the Eastern Cape's mining sector .

Key Responsibilities

- Develop comprehensive long-term mine plans, including open-pit or underground mine design, production scheduling, and resource depletion strategies.
- Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) to create detailed 3D models and generate production schedules.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses for proposed mining plans and project expansions.
- Optimize mine layouts, haul routes, and equipment selection for maximum efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with geology, engineering,



and operations teams to ensure plans are technically sound and achievable.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions related to mine planning.

Requirements

- Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning and design.
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac .
- Strong understanding of mining methods, economics, and operational constraints.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills .
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid capacity, managing remote planning tasks and participating in necessary on-site project meetings.
