Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking Locum Emergency Medicine Doctors to support ED services across a wide range of hospital settings.

Clinical Setting

You will manage a broad range of presentations including trauma, paediatrics, acute medical cases and psychiatric emergencies.
The role offers exposure to both high-volume tertiary EDs and smaller rural departments, helping you strengthen adaptability, acute decision-making and confidence across different Emergency Medicine settings.
You will work closely with FACEM consultants, registrars, junior doctors, nursing teams and multidisciplinary emergency staff.

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad Emergency Department patient mix, including adults, older patients, children, trauma presentations, acute medical cases, mental health presentations, resus cases and patients requiring stabilisation, escalation or transfer.

Key Duties

- Assess and manage ED presentations across rostered shifts
- Support triage, flow and acute care planning
- Participate in resus, trauma and procedural care where appropriate
- Escalate clinical concerns appropriately




- Complete documentation, handover and management plans
- Work collaboratively with ED and multidisciplinary teams

Requirements

- Current AHPRA General Registration or above
- Minimum PGY2+ with Emergency Department experience
- NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
- Australian working rights
- Ability to complete hospital credentialing
- Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
