Ready to drive Aviation Safety across Airbus Australia Pacific?

We are looking for a dedicated Aviation Safety Specialist to step up and act as our primary Subject Matter Expert across Australia and New Zealand.

If you are passionate about creating a proactive safety culture, leading investigations, and driving the evolution of our Safety Management System (SMS), this internal role offers the chance to make a real impact on our operational integrity and strategic growth.

What You'll Be Doing

- Leading and embedding our SMS network across the region, guiding local SMS Officers and driving a strong safety culture.
- Serving as the primary expert for aviation safety investigations, working to identify root causes and ensure meaningful corrective actions are taken.
- Working directly with operational teams to run risk assessments and manage change without sacrificing business efficiency.
- Tracking global aviation incidents and safety intelligence to turn real-world data into practical training and lessons learned for our teams.
- Shaping tailored Human Factors and operational safety training programs across our business units.
- Partnering with global safety experts across Airbus Helicopters, Airbus Commercial, and Airbus Defence & Space to share best practices and continuous improvements.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to management, contractors,



and operational teams on all things safety and compliance.

What We Are Looking For

- A proven track record in an aviation environment (at least 10 years) with deep knowledge of civil and defence aviation regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading complex aircraft incident/accident investigations and conducting activity- or site-based risk assessments.
- Formal qualifications in investigation methodologies (ICAO or equivalent), auditing standards (e.g. ISO 9001/45001), and safety/health disciplines or Defence Aviation Safety Officer (ASO) credentials.
- Practical experience in Human Factors and a explicit understanding of both leading and lagging safety metrics.
- A collaborative, pragmatic leadership style—someone who can communicate complex ideas clearly, resolve conflicts, and build lasting relationships across matrix teams.
- High personal integrity, a fit-for-purpose mindset, and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.

Desirable Additions

- Qualifications in Human Factors or a Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
- Familiarity with Airbus systems, including AH MyCES COM-16 and COM-20 standards.

You must be eligible for an Australian Government Security Clearance and have the capacity to satisfy pre-employment medical screening which may include drug and alcohol testing.
