ABOUT THE PROSPECT

Subway Moe is seeking a capable and experienced Retail Manager to manage our store, lead our team and deliver consistent standards of product quality and customer service.

Reporting to the franchise owner, you will be responsible for the store’s daily operations and commercial performance. You will manage staffing, purchasing, inventory, financial controls, sales activities and workplace standards, exercising management responsibility within the franchise owner’s delegated authority and Subway’s operating requirements.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Store operations: Plan, organise and manage the store’s daily activities, including opening and closing procedures, staffing coverage, service delivery and operational priorities. Review performance and implement improvements to efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Product range, inventory and service: Plan the store’s product offering within Subway’s approved menu, determine ingredient and packaging requirements, and establish customer service expectations. Forecast demand, maintain suitable stock quantities and monitor availability, freshness and waste.
- Purchasing and pricing: Develop and implement store purchasing procedures, order through approved suppliers, verify deliveries and resolve supply issues. Review costs and set or adjust retail prices and promotional offers within delegated authority and applicable franchise requirements.
- Marketing and promotion: Plan and carry out local sales and marketing activities, implement Subway promotional campaigns, maintain accurate promotional displays and promote catering opportunities. Evaluate campaign results and identify opportunities to increase sales and repeat business.
- Customer sales and advice: Manage and participate in customer sales, provide accurate advice on menu choices and available products, and oversee the handling of orders and enquiries.



Resolve escalated complaints and use customer feedback to improve service.
- Stock and financial records: Maintain accurate records of purchases, stock movements, sales and financial transactions. Organise stocktakes, investigate discrepancies, reconcile point-of-sale and cash records, and prepare banking and store performance reports.
- Budgets and financial performance: Prepare store budgets and sales forecasts in consultation with the franchise owner. Monitor revenue, food costs, labour expenditure and other operating expenses, investigate variances and implement measures to improve financial performance.
- Recruitment and staff management: Manage employee recruitment, selection, induction, training and supervision. Prepare rosters, allocate responsibilities, coach employees, review performance and maintain accurate timesheet and staffing records.
- Workplace safety and food standards: Ensure safe working practices and compliance with applicable occupational health and safety, food safety and hygiene requirements. Oversee temperature checks, stock rotation, allergen procedures, cleaning, equipment maintenance and staff training, and address identified hazards or non-compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet one of the following:

- Hold a relevant AQF Diploma or higher qualification, including an Advanced Diploma or associate degree, in Retail Management, Business Management or Hospitality Management, or a comparable overseas qualification; or
- Demonstrate at least three years of relevant experience at an appropriate management skill level, which may be considered in place of the formal qualification.

Qualifications and experience must be relevant to managing a retail food or quick-service restaurant business and supported by appropriate evidence.

EXPERIENCE

All applicants must have:





- At least 1-2 years of relevant full-time management experience, or equivalent part-time experience, within the last five years in retail, a quick-food or quick-service restaurant, or a closely related field at a comparable skill level.
- Demonstrated responsibility for staff supervision and development, rostering, stock control, purchasing, customer service and store financial performance.
- Experience using sales and inventory information to manage costs and improve business results.

Applicants relying on experience in place of a qualification must meet the three-year requirement above, including the recent experience requirement.

Previous Subway or comparable franchise experience is desirable but not essential.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

- Effective leadership and the ability to train, motivate and manage a team.
- Transparent communication and a professional approach to customer service.
- Sound numerical skills and confidence preparing budgets and interpreting business reports.
- Competence using point-of-sale, inventory and computer-based reporting systems.
- Practical knowledge of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and workplace safety.
- Strong organisation, judgement and problem-solving skills.
- Availability to work a rotating roster, including weekends, evenings and public holidays.

Relevant food safety training and Food Safety Supervisor certification will be highly regarded.

SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

The successful applicant will receive an annual base salary of $80,000–$90,000, plus superannuation, based on relevant qualifications and experience.

Employment conditions will comply with the National Employment Standards and any applicable award or registered agreement.
