Package Lead – Mechanical / SMP Projects

Pructon is seeking an experienced Package Lead to join our Sydney operations and take responsibility for the successful delivery of mechanical and SMP packages across major infrastructure projects.

Pructon is an Australian construction and manufacturing contractor specialising in the delivery of structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) works across the water, mining, resources and infrastructure sectors.

With a growing portfolio of projects across Sydney, we are looking for a capable and commercially minded Package Lead who can take ownership of a package from planning through construction, commissioning and handover.

The Role

Reporting to Pructon's project and operations management team, the Package Lead will be responsible for the overall delivery and performance of assigned work packages. This is a hands-on delivery role requiring strong coordination between the client, site supervision, engineering, procurement, subcontractors and Pructon's management team.

Take ownership of assigned mechanical/SMP packages from mobilisation through to completion and handover.

Manage project programme, sequencing, labour requirements and construction activities.

Coordinate site supervisors, trades, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors.

Maintain solid working relationships with clients, engineers and other project stakeholders.

Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and construction documentation.

Identify scope changes, delays and potential variations and ensure they are documented promptly.





Assist with preparation and management of variations, progress claims, forecasts and project costs.

Monitor productivity, labour hours and package performance against budget and programme.

Coordinate procurement, materials, equipment and subcontractor requirements.

Work closely with site supervision to ensure works are planned and executed efficiently.

Ensure project quality requirements, ITPs, inspections, MDR documentation and handover requirements are completed.

Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and environmental compliance.

Participate in client meetings, programme reviews and project reporting.

Identify project risks early and implement practical solutions to maintain delivery.

Drive packages through testing, commissioning, completion and final handover.

About You

We are looking for someone who understands construction delivery and is comfortable taking responsibility for both the operational and commercial performance of their package. Ideally, you will have:

Previous experience as a Package Lead, Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, Project Manager or similar within construction or infrastructure.

Experience delivering mechanical, piping, structural or process equipment packages.





Experience within the water and wastewater sector will be highly regarded.

Strong understanding of construction planning, sequencing and site delivery.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and contracts.

Sound commercial awareness, including variations, claims, cost control and forecasting.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and site teams.

A practical, solutions-focused approach to project delivery.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Relevant engineering, construction or trade qualifications will be highly regarded.
