The restaurant serves a varied menu of Indian dishes to dine-in and takeaway customers and also fulfils orders placed through online delivery platforms including Uber Eats and DoorDash, giving it a steady flow of trade across every service. The kitchen operates on daily food preparation, cooking, food quality control and order fulfilment, and the business is built on delivering quality food and a consistent dining experience to every customer, whether they eat in the restaurant, collect a takeaway or order for delivery.

About the Position

The Cook is a full-time, hands-on role at the centre of the restaurant's kitchen. Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, the Cook prepares and cooks the restaurant's Indian menu for dine-in, takeaway and online delivery orders, maintains consistent taste, quality and presentation across all three channels, and keeps the kitchen running efficiently through regular and peak trading periods.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes in accordance with the restaurant's established menu, recipes and preparation standards.
- Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, marinating, seasoning and portioning meat, vegetables, spices and other food items ahead of and during service.
- Cook food using appropriate methods including frying, grilling, baking, steaming and roasting,



together with traditional Indian cooking techniques.
- Follow established recipes and cooking procedures to maintain consistent taste, quality, presentation and portion sizes across every dish.
- Prepare food for dine-in, takeaway and online delivery orders, ensuring each order is completed accurately and on time.
- Handle, store and prepare food in accordance with food safety, hygiene and food-handling requirements.
- Check the freshness and quality of ingredients, assist with stock rotation and prepare ingredients for daily service.
- Maintain the cleanliness of cooking equipment, utensils, benches and food preparation areas throughout kitchen operations.
- Minimise food wastage through appropriate preparation, portioning and storage of ingredients.
- Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff to support the timely preparation and service of meals during regular and peak trading periods.

Requirements

- Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply. Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of two years of relevant full-time experience as a Cook. Demonstrated skill in preparing and cooking Indian cuisine using traditional techniques, with a sound working knowledge of spices, marinades and preparation methods. Working knowledge of food safety, hygiene and food-handling requirements and the ability to apply them consistently in a commercial kitchen.
- Ability to manage multiple dine-in, takeaway and online delivery orders at once, maintaining accuracy, timing and portion control during peak service.
- Robust communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work cooperatively with kitchen and front-of-house staff and take direction from the Restaurant Manager. Reliability, attention to detail and a commitment to consistent food quality.
- Availability to work a rostered full-time schedule that includes evenings, weekends and peak trading periods.
