CAD DESIGNER – PLAYGROUND & PRODUCT DESIGN

Aussie Play – South West Sydney

Aussie Play is a rapidly growing Australian manufacturer of playground and early learning equipment. We design, manufacture and supply innovative play products to childcare centres and schools throughout Australia.

We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer to join our team and play a key role in the development of new products and custom play solutions.

This is not a purely drafting role. We are looking for someone who understands how products are actually made and can translate ideas into practical, efficient and manufacturable designs.

About the Role

You will work closely with management, production staff and customers to design new products, develop custom solutions and improve existing products. You will be involved from concept through to manufacture, helping ensure our products are innovative, practical, cost-effective and built to a high standard.

Responsibilities

- Produce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.

- Develop new product concepts and improve existing designs.

- Create manufacturing documentation including drawings, cut lists and assembly details.

- Work with production staff to ensure designs are practical and efficient to manufacture.

- Assist with custom playground and outdoor learning projects.

- Participate in prototyping, testing and product development.





Essential Requirements

- Proven experience in CAD design – specifically Autodesk Fusion.

- Strong 3D modelling skills.

- Experience preparing manufacturing drawings.

- Understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods. This step is vital to ensuring the parts are designed with manufacturing methods in mind from the get go.

- Ability to design products that are practical, efficient and cost-effective to manufacture.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently and solve problems.

Highly Regarded

Experience with:

- Sheet metal fabrication.

- Timber products and cabinetry.

- Aluminium and steel fabrication.

- CNC machining.

- Tube bending

- Product design and development.

- Furniture or playground manufacturing.

- Australian Standards and compliance requirements.

You are a practical designer who enjoys seeing your designs become real products. You understand that great design must also be manufacturable, efficient and commercially viable.

You enjoy working with production teams, solving problems and developing products that customers love.
