About the Role

Passionate about strength and conditioning, rowing and coaching? Hunter Valley Grammar School is hiring a casual Strength and Conditioning Coach to join our Rowing team.

The Strength & Conditioning (S&C;) Coach is directly responsible to the Head of Co-Curricular Sport K-12. The S&C; Coach will oversee, manage, coordinate, and deliver S&C; sessions and programs to students involved in school sporting teams, particularly the HVGS Rowing program.

Work Pattern: This is a casual position, candidates with availability Monday to Thursday afternoons from 3:30pm onwards during school terms is highly desirable.

Key Duties

- Collaboratively work with the Director of Rowing and Head Coach of Rowing to deliver after school group S&C; sessions for students in the Rowing program

- General administrative duties including but not limited to promotion and record-keeping

- Challenge talented athletes with advanced techniques and provide support to students with poor core development

- Develop and maintain a working relationship with all Rowing students and families

- When required, available to support with additional before and after school S&C; sessions for students involved in the Elite Athlete Program (EAP)



and Co-Curricular S&C; sessions.

About You

- A minimum ASCA Level 1 or equivalent (required)

- A current CPR/First Aid Certificate (required)

- Hold a current Working with Children Check (required)

- A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

- Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for Junior and Senior school populations

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster and build relationships with key stakeholders

- Self-directed, with the ability to work autonomously and with minimal direction

- Ability to:

- work in a dynamic team environment

- provide support to a small group or individual students in basic skills as required

- motivate children to participate in unfamiliar or challenging activities

- redirect students into appropriate behaviours during activities

- maintain safe work practices
