This role supports the business by:

- Sustaining confidence in payroll by ensuring employees are paid accurately, compliantly and on time.

- Delivering a positive payroll experience for employees, leaders and stakeholders.

- Supporting payroll projects that strengthen processes, systems, data quality and reporting.

- Maintaining strong payroll governance, controls and assurance to reduce organisational risk.

- Providing payroll insights and reporting that support effective business decisions.

The Role

The Payroll Manager leads the delivery of accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll services, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time. The role oversees payroll operations, compliance, systems, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives while providing leadership to the payroll team and partnering with stakeholders to support organisational objectives.

- Lead the delivery of the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring employees are paid accurately, compliantly and on time, while providing a reliable and positive payroll experience..

- Establish and maintain payroll governance, controls, assurance frameworks and business continuity arrangements to ensure payroll processes are compliant, auditable, resilient and minimise organisational risk.

- Provide leadership and direction to the payroll team through the Payroll Team Leader,



building capability, fostering continuous improvement and ensuring accurate, responsive service delivery.

- Contribute as part of the Employee Experience leadership team, supporting operational priorities through effective payroll leadership, service delivery and governance.

- Lead the ongoing evolution of payroll services by identifying opportunities to improve processes, optimise systems and implement innovative solutions.

What we're looking for

We are seeking an experienced payroll leader with strong technical knowledge, a focus on accuracy and compliance, data integrity, process improvement and the ability to lead payroll projects in a complex systems environment. You’ll have the opportunity to bring structure, rigour and fresh thinking to a critical function, improving payroll processes, data quality and service delivery in a way that directly supports our people.

The successful candidate will bring proven leadership capability, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders while driving efficient and compliant payroll operations.

- Extensive experience leading end-to-end payroll functions within a complex organisational environment.

- Demonstrated success leading payroll teams to deliver accurate, compliant and customer focused payroll services.

- Significant experience using and managing Chris21 (or equivalent enterprise payroll systems), including payroll processing, system administration, testing, reporting, upgrades, payroll projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Advanced knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation,



employment conditions with proven ability to interpret and apply legislative and industrial requirements.

The Details

This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston or Devonport and attracts a salary of $157,359 - $174,843 (inclusive of superannuation)
