Our client, a leading provider of industrial fasteners and engineered fastening solutions, is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to join their growing team.

Working with customers across Australia and New Zealand, this is a hands-on role combining technical engineering knowledge, customer relationships and commercial sales. You’ll work across industries including mining, infrastructure, earthmoving, construction, power generation, heavy engineering and oil & gas, understanding customer requirements and developing practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to achieve sales and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers across target industries.
- Sales & Business Development: Identify new business opportunities, develop new accounts and grow existing customer relationships.
- Technical Sales Support: Review engineering drawings, specifications and technical requirements and translate them into clear, actionable orders.
- Quotations & Commercial Support: Prepare technical and commercial quotations, negotiate commercial terms and support tender submissions.
- Market & Growth Strategy: Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements to identify growth opportunities and support pricing strategies.
- Collaboration & Project Support: Work closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to ensure customer requirements are understood and delivered.
- Reporting & Forecasting: Maintain accurate sales reporting, forecasts, budgets and customer records.
- Industry Engagement: Represent the business at customer meetings, trade shows and industry events as required.
As you develop your knowledge of the business, you’ll have the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities and progress your career, with direct support and mentorship from the General Manager.
About You:
We’re looking for someone who combines technical capability with commercial drive.
You’ll be comfortable reading engineering drawings and specifications, understanding materials and manufacturing processes, and having technical conversations with engineers, project managers, procurement teams and other key decision-makers.
You’ll also enjoy building relationships, identifying opportunities and turning technical requirements into commercial outcomes.
What You’ll Bring:
- Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer or Trade Qualified professional with strong technical experience in a mechanical/manufacturing environment.
- Experience in technical sales, business development or a customer-facing engineering role.
- Strong commercial and customer-facing skills.
- A proactive approach to new business development and account growth.
- Good understanding of manufacturing, materials and engineered products.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple customer and project requirements.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach.
- Willingness to travel nationally as required.
- A genuine interest in developing your technical and commercial career.
